AJNAD SHAM - UNSC & THE DEFINITION OF TERRORISM & BRITAIN'S PROSCRIPTION OF TERRORISM

Posted by Hakimi Abdul Jabar on March 15 2021, 04:32am

As a University of Wolverhampton Registered Alumnus & Mentor, having studied the prevention & punishment of terrorism & militancy as part of the varsity syllabus, I'd bring into attention the non-binding definition of terrorism by the UNSC vide Resolution 1566 of October 2004 which states that terrorists acts are “criminal acts, including against civilians, committed with the intent to cause death or serious bodily injury, or taking of hostages, with the purpose to provoke a state of terror in the general public or in a group of persons or particular persons, intimidate a population or compel a government or an international organization to do or to abstain from doing any act."

The proscription of Ajnad Sham & its members as an international terrorist organization & as terrorists respectively in June 2014 by an UNSC P5 member - Britain, clearly discerns the very fact that criminal acts have been committed by Ajnad Sham & its terrorists-members.

The UN has stated that terrorism is destructive of nation-building, democracy, peace & security, justice, development etc.
